As the ecumenical professional association for mission studies in Korea, the Korean Society of Mission Studies(KSOMS) which was established in 1992 includes more than 230 academicians, mission agency executives, and missionaries in a unique fellowship of scholarship and mission.


The KSOMS seeks to

  • Promote the church union movement and ecumenism.
  • Promote the scholarly study of theological, historical, social, and practical questions relating to the missionary dimension of the Christian Church.
  • Promote fellowship and cooperation among individuals and institutions engaged in activities and studies related to Missiology.
  • Encourage research and publication in the study of Christian missions.

The KSOMS publishes the quarterly journal “Theology of Mission” which has a worldwide print and web circulation(e.g., ATLA: American Theological Library Association). The Chief Editor of the journal is Dr. Seonyi Lee (seonyi-lee@hanmail.net).


The KSOMS usually meets bi-monthly(February, April, June, August, October, December) and the meeting of June and October meets in tandem with the Korea Evangelical Missiological Society and the Korea Association of Christian Studies respectively.
